The redesign of our website was quite a process. When we finished it, we felt there might be just a little something missing….. So for the first time, we thought about putting a human face to our designs.

We turned to the incredibly talented fashion photographer Lisa Ramsay for capturing the spirit of our aesthetic. I have been a fan of Lisa’s work for years, was terrifically excited at the prospect of working with her. Lisa is incredibly focused and inspirational in her approach to fashion, lifestyle, product, tabletop – she does it all, turns it out, and can get very avant-garde, too!

To say it was a pleasure working with Lisa is a huge understatement – work shouldn’t be this much fun, but it was. I guess I’m just a little kid at heart…. Check out Lisa’s impressive body of work by clicking the link to her website above.

After connecting with Lisa, things just fell into place.

A client of ours, who had just moved to the U.S. from the south of France, mentioned en passant she was pursuing a modeling career. Little wonder! Lucie Mansuy is simply gorgeous, tall, with a figure to set the Hudson aflame. Lest my description dwell on the ephemeral, let me complete the picture by lauding Lucie’s is fierce intelligence, her many accomplishments, and her great warmth, wit and charm. She is also a true professional.

For hair and makeup we turned to another recent import to the New York scene – Angelo Canales. Angelo had been a top stylist in Miami for years, but determined to climb higher on his career ladder by setting his sights on the Big Apple (perhaps he got tired of the bad weather in Miami – right!). Since his arrival he has been making quite a stir with his work, and his genius in adorning the human form ranges from the most deftly crafted soft and natural to the boldest and wildest looks. Plus, he is a treasure to work with, kind, patient, meticulous, and always “on”.

If you have seen our new website, you will notice David Lee Holland, like nature itself, is ever evolving, changing, growing. Call us a brand on the march. Yes, we are updating our look – it’s all a process - but we stay true to our vision, beliefs and especially our aesthetic.

Being a “camera” involves a lot of hard work. Yet as Christopher Isherwood knew, this is work which inspires and invigorates the soul. I look forwarding to working with Lisa, Lucie and Angelo again for our next great photographic adventure, and I hope you enjoy the results of what we have “developed”.
