David Lee Holland Fine Jewelry is the brainchild of two designers: David Lee Holland and Yanni Kyriazis, and has been creating botanically-inspired fine jewelry for over 20 years.
David Lee Holland is a second-generation master jeweler, gemologist, designer and visionary. The golden apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. His parents, Homer Lee and Doris Shero Holland, were important figures in the jewelry world, and in addition to their many companies and retail jewelry stores, founded and ran the Holland School for Jewelers in Selma, Alabama for nearly half a century.
Doris Holland is a master appraiser, designer, gemologist and the nation’s first certified female master watch maker. Miss Doris maintains our retail store in Selma, Alabama, and is known for her acumen in diamond, bridal and engagement jewels, as well as her celebrated skills as an appraiser for some of the most important estates in the Southeast.
David’s father, Homer Lee Holland, was an instrumental figure in the early days of the American Gem Society, in creation of their conclaves, in his support and work with the Gemological Institute of America, and was especially renowned as a master jeweler in platinum.
David Lee Holland maintains this tradition, refining it with his love of botanical form. As a preeminent private jeweler for over 25 years, he is an authority on design, gemstones, and the fabrication of intricate fine jewels.
Yanni Kyriazis is a Harvard graduate and who wrote his thesis on the Bauhaus, Weimar, and co-founded HOME for Contemporary Theatre and Art in Tribeca (later to become HERE on Spring Street in Soho). He took his Masters Degree in Playwriting and Screenwriting at NYU Tisch School of the Arts (full scholarship), and was represented by UTA in Los Angeles and Peter Hagen in New York while working full-time as a writer. In addition, he was a journalist for Greek publications.
Yanni’s love of nature, and of jewelry (inherent in the DNA of all Greeks?) led him to designing with David many of the iconic jewels of their early years and to becoming an enraptured designer of fine jewelry. Yanni is a specialist in metallurgy, gemstones, pearls, and custom design, and is accomplished on Cad/Cam, Adobe Suite products, and is a dual-national (Greek and American).
